World-Class Big Band Jazz
Since 1973, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra has captivated audiences around the globe. Under the direction of celebrated band leader and trumpet virtuoso Byron Stripling, former lead trumpeter for the Count Basie Orchestra, the CJO’s repertoire features both surprising new arrangements and jazz orchestra masterworks, fostering the dynamic, adventurous spirit that keeps audiences coming back again and again.
Each season, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra’s concert series includes more than 20 subscription performances at the historic Southern Theatre in Columbus, Ohio. The CJO has also toured Europe and has collaborated with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, BalletMet Columbus, the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus, the Harmony Project, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Opera Columbus, and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
