Offstage at the Jazz Academy: Ray Brown at 100

Featuring Bassist George DeLancey, Drummer George Fludas, and Pianist Larry Fuller

In anticipation of our centennial celebration of Ray Brown, join George DeLancey, George Fludas, and Larry Fuller at the Jazz Academy for an intimate and immersive talk-back session on the life and legacy of Ray Brown.

This session offers a rare glimpse into the artistry behind the titan and the impact that one man has had on the music we all love. You will hear from two musicians who lived the legacy directly: George Fludas, who toured extensively as Ray’s drummer, and Larry Fuller, who was Ray’s final pianist in his infamous trio. Together with bassist and bandleader George DeLancey, they will share personal stories from the road, discuss the lasting importance of Brown’s impact on jazz and how a rhythm section functions, and provide a musical sneak peak into the arrangements you will hear at the show the following night.

Whether you’re a musician or a dedicated listener, join us for this opportunity to dive deep into the soul, swing, and history of Ray Brown before the main event!
