Get ready for a high-energy celebration of six strings and a serious groove. Returning guest artist Dan Wilson joins forces with vocalist Jonathan Elliott for a night devoted to the music of guitar legends like George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, and Eric Clapton. From smooth jazz grooves and bluesy riffs to soaring melodic lines, this concert is a guitar lover’s dream and a full-on musical party. Wilson, a favorite CJO collaborator, brings his signature warmth and virtuosity back to the stage, while Elliott’s energetic vocals bring these grooves home. And because it’s Valentine’s season, expect a love ballad or two woven into the mix— moments to sway, smile, and fall in love with the sound of the guitar all over again. It’s a show where the strings sing, only at the Southern this February.

Friday’s concert will feature a talkback immediately following the performance with our guest artist, Dan Wilson, and the Maestro Byron Stripling himself.

Sunday’s concert is opened by a featured Columbus Youth Jazz performance at 2 p.m., support students in jazz and hear what the next generation is swingin’ into.
