In this joyful celebration of two of jazz’s most beloved icons, Byron is joined by internationally acclaimed vocalist Carmen Bradford for an unforgettable journey through the music made famous by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. A former featured vocalist with the Count Basie Orchestra for nine years, Bradford is celebrated for her rich tone, masterful swing, and magnetic stage presence. Critics have called her voice “stunningly expressive,” “velvety and powerful,” and “a true standard-bearer of the jazz vocal tradition.” Paired with Byron’s soulful trumpet and charm, the two recreate the warmth, wit, and chemistry that made Ella and Louis one of the most treasured partnerships in music history.

THIS PROGRAM WILL BE 90 MINUTES WITHOUT INTERMISSION

Friday’s concert will feature a talkback immediately following the performance with our guest artist, Carmen Bradford, and the Maestro Byron Stripling himself.

Sunday’s concert is opened by a featured Columbus Youth Jazz performance at 2 p.m., support students in jazz and hear what the next generation is swingin’ into.
