WHO IS SUCH SWEET THUNDER?

This eight piece ensemble began in 2017 and under the leadership of trombonist Ryan Hamilton, has grown to be a Columbus favorite no matter the season. Bringing to life the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, Such Sweet Thunder reimagines these classic arrangements by two jazz titans. Hamilton is currently lead trombone with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and an educator throughout the central Ohio community. In addition to being a professional performer, he arranges 99% of the works that Such Sweet Thunder performs, bringing a new level of excitement and magic to each and every concert.
